SYNOPSIS

When sharing her tips for a happy marriage, a young wife must come to realize that marriages are never perfect, or else she stands the risk of losing it all.

Happily Married After is a short film satirical take on the perfections and imperfections that make marriage beautiful. We all too often hold our partners to a high standard, placing them on a pedestal, expecting them to do no wrong. Unfortunately, as being humans, we have tendencies to make mistakes and mess up - but how we react to those instances can either make a relationship stronger or pull it apart.

My vision was to see this perspective of a relationship through the eyes of a Black couple, mainly because Black relationships still feel like they need to be normalized. There are too many stereotypes for reasons why Black relationships do not work out - so as a Black filmmaker, my goal is to continue to show these images to help theatrically normalize what exists in the real world.

I am choosing to portray this as a comedy because we too often get caught in the drama of what we believe a relationship should be. However, whenever we look back in hindsight, we start to realize how trivial some of the quirks turn out to be.

I use storytelling to amplify the voices of Black and brown communities, ensuring they are seen, valued, and remembered. My work is driven by a deep connection to the people I film, using my creativity to highlight their resilience, humanity, and truth. Inspired by the Latin community, I strive to challenge labels and foster understanding. More than filmmaking, my mission is to serve, connect, and create work that ignites change, proving that visibility is power.
